Official Rules

1. Sponsor

The Break Room is operated by Fegud, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Questions about these rules may be sent to [email protected].

Fegud is referred to as the “Sponsor” in these rules. A street or mailing address is not published on this page.

2. No purchase required

No purchase, payment, credit card, or paid Fegud subscription is required to request an invitation, participate, become a Break Room Champion, or receive a prize.

3. Eligibility

To participate, a person must:

1. Be at least 18 years old when the season begins.
2. Work in HR, People, workplace culture, employee experience, or another role approved through Fegud’s verification process.
3. Receive and accept a Break Room invitation.
4. Use one individual Fegud account in their own name or chosen display name.
5. Follow these rules and Fegud’s applicable Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Approved participants may join from anywhere Fegud makes the Break Room available. A participant may earn digital Champion status regardless of country.

To receive the physical bucket-hat prize, a Champion must be a legal resident of Canada, the United States, or the United Kingdom and provide a valid shipping address in one of those countries. Fegud employees, contractors directly involved in administering the Break Room, and members of their immediate households are not eligible for the physical prize.

The promotion and physical prize are void where prohibited or restricted by law.

4. Season period

Each season begins at 12:00 a.m. Toronto time on the first calendar day of the month and ends at 11:59 p.m. Toronto time on the last calendar day of that month.

“Toronto time” means the local time observed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the applicable date.

The Break Room page, invitation, or onboarding email will identify the month and year of each season.

5. Requests, verification, and late entry

Normal requests should be submitted before a season begins.

If space remains:

• Late requests close at 11:59 p.m. Toronto time on day 3 of the month.
• Verification and room placement close at 11:59 p.m. Toronto time on day 5.
• An applicant not placed by the final deadline may be offered the next season.

Submitting a request does not guarantee an invitation. Fegud reviews requests to keep each Break Room relevant and free of sales prospecting.

6. How participation works

Each approved participant receives an individual account and a 24-activity self-care bingo card.

A participant may:

• Play solo.
• Invite up to three coworkers using the private link sent after approval.
• Create an optional team inside the app.
• Join an optional team in the same Break Room.

Each Break Room includes people from up to 10 companies. Each participant may use the app in English, Canadian French, or Spanish.

7. Individual scoring

The individual leaderboard is based only on the number of unique activities completed on the participant’s current 24-activity card during the season.

• Each activity counts once.
• The free center square does not count.
• The maximum individual score is 24.
• Every activity has the same value for Break Room Champion calculations.
• Points, completion speed, difficulty, and streak length do not break a tie.
• Activity recorded outside the season period does not count.

If the app displays points elsewhere, those points do not change the Break Room Champion result unless the published rules are updated before the season begins.

8. Optional team scoring

Optional teams are ranked by average completion per member:

Team score = completed activities across all current team members divided by the total possible activities for those members.

For a team with N members, the total possible activities are 24 × N.

Team rankings are for friendly participation only. They do not determine the bucket-hat prize.

A participant may belong to one Break Room team at a time. If someone withdraws or is disqualified, Fegud removes that person from the team calculation. Fegud may remove a team from recognition if people coordinate withdrawals to manipulate its average.

9. Champion determination and ties

At the end of the season, the eligible participant or participants with the highest number of completed activities become Break Room Champions.

If two or more eligible participants share the highest score:

• Every tied participant is a co-champion.
• Every co-champion receives the digital Champion badge.
• Every co-champion who meets the physical-prize eligibility rules is entitled to one Fegud bucket hat and may decline it.

Fegud does not use completion speed, streak length, or a random draw to break an exact tie.

10. Prize and shipping

Each eligible Break Room Champion is entitled to:

• One Fegud bucket hat with an approximate retail value of $39.99 USD.
• One digital Champion badge with no cash value.

Fegud covers the cost of the hat and standard shipping to a valid address in Canada, the United States, or the United Kingdom supplied by an eligible Champion.

The hat:

• Cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
• May be substituted with an item of equal or greater value if the advertised hat becomes unavailable.
• Is limited to one per Champion per season.

Taxes, customs, and duties

The prize is free, and Fegud does not charge the winner for the hat or standard shipping. That does not guarantee that every tax, VAT, customs, brokerage, or import charge will be zero.

Unless Fegud confirms otherwise in writing or applicable law requires a different result, each winner is responsible for:

• Personal income tax or reporting obligations related to the prize.
• Import VAT, customs duties, brokerage charges, or similar government and courier fees.

Fegud does not reimburse taxes, customs duties, brokerage charges, import charges, or similar amounts unless applicable law requires otherwise. A Champion may decline the physical prize to avoid an unwanted charge without losing earned digital Champion status.

11. Winner verification and prize claim

After the season closes, Fegud reviews the activity records and identifies the participant or participants with the highest eligible score under these rules. Fegud then emails each potential Champion using the account email address or another contact method supplied during onboarding.

A potential Champion must provide the information reasonably needed to:

• Confirm eligibility.
• Provide a valid shipping address in Canada, the United States, or the United Kingdom if claiming the physical prize.
• Arrange delivery of the prize.

Before a Canadian resident can receive the physical prize, they must correctly answer, without assistance, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question administered by Fegud.

After eligibility and the shipping address are confirmed, Fegud ships the hat using standard shipping and emails tracking information when it becomes available. A Champion may decline the physical prize without losing earned digital Champion status.

If Fegud cannot verify a potential Champion or obtain the information needed for delivery after reasonable contact attempts, the physical prize remains unclaimed. Digital Champion status remains unless the person is found ineligible or disqualified.

12. Withdrawal

A participant may leave at any time by emailing Fegud or using an available account control.

• There is no penalty for leaving.
• A person who withdraws before the season ends is no longer eligible for that season’s leaderboard recognition or prize.
• Fegud removes the withdrawing participant from the optional team calculation.
• Fegud handles the person’s information according to its Privacy Policy and any applicable legal retention requirements.

Missing activities, taking rest days, or finishing with a low score is not a reason for disqualification.

13. Fair play and disqualification

Fegud may correct activity records, suspend an account, remove a participant from leaderboard recognition, revoke a badge, or disqualify a participant from a prize after a reasonable review if the participant:

• Uses duplicate, false, or shared accounts.
• Provides false eligibility or identity information.
• Falsifies activity completion.
• Uses automation, scripts, or technical manipulation to change a score.
• Interferes with the app, leaderboard, another participant, or the verification process.
• Harasses, threatens, impersonates, or abuses another participant or Fegud team member.
• Publishes or distributes a private invitation link beyond its intended recipients after being asked to stop.
• Coordinates withdrawals or team changes to manipulate a ranking.
• Materially breaches these rules or applicable Fegud terms.

Where practical, Fegud will contact the participant and allow an honest technical or account error to be corrected before disqualification. Fegud may act immediately where fraud, safety, harassment, or deliberate interference is reasonably suspected.

A disqualified participant’s activity is removed from Champion calculations. If a person was disqualified before prize delivery, the prize is not sent. Fegud may revoke future Break Room eligibility for serious or repeated misconduct.

14. Privacy

Fegud uses request and account information to:

• Review eligibility.
• Place participants in a Break Room.
• Send invitations and season instructions.
• Operate leaderboards and optional teams.
• Verify results.
• Contact Champions and deliver prizes.

Other participants may see a chosen display name and, where enabled, individual or team leaderboard information. Private activity details are not shared with employers, HR teams, or other participants.

15. Winner announcements and optional photos

Fegud may announce a Champion using:

• The Champion’s chosen display name.
• The Champion’s country.

Fegud will not name the Champion’s employer unless the Champion gives separate permission.

Fegud may invite a Champion to share a photo wearing the bucket hat. Sharing a photo is optional and is not a condition of receiving the prize. Fegud will obtain separate permission before publishing a winner’s photo, legal name, testimonial, employer, or other identifying information.

16. Technical problems and rule changes

Fegud may pause, postpone, modify, or cancel a season if fraud, technical failure, safety concerns, legal requirements, or another event materially affects fair operation.

A material change will be dated, published, and communicated to current participants. Fegud will not retroactively disadvantage participants unless a change is needed for safety, legality, privacy, or fair administration.

17. Applicable law and rights

Participation is subject to applicable law wherever a participant lives. The physical-prize provisions are also subject to applicable laws in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Except where local law requires otherwise, these rules are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Nothing in these rules excludes rights that cannot lawfully be waived. If one part of these rules cannot be enforced, the remaining parts continue to apply.

18. Results

After a season closes and results are verified, Fegud may publish eligible Champions by display name and country. A participant may request that their result not be published publicly.
